OFFICIAL: Chinaza Uchendu Joins FC Nantes Until 2025

• Nigerian striker, Chinaza Uchendu joins French Première Ligue side, FC Nantes Femenine on a 1-year deal until June 2025.
• The 26-year-old arrives from Turkish champions, Galatasaray SK, having previously played for SC Braga, Linkoping FC, and Gyeongju KHNP.

Through a statement on their official website, French Première Ligue side, FC Nantes Femenine have announced the signing of Super Falcons forward, Chinaza Uchendu on a one year deal until June 2025.

The 26-year-old forward joins the club from Turkish Champions, Galatasaray SK, after winning the League last season with the club.

The Rivers angels alumni was a former youth international at U20 level, representing Nigeria at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and netted a goal at that tournament.

Two years later, she was named in Nigeria's final squad for the 2018 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, where she only featured in the final and converted her spot-kick in a penalty shootout against South Africa which ended in favour of the Super Falcons.

Reacting to the move, the forward who represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup expressed her excitement, stating her familiarity with the atmosphere in France.

"I am happy to join the FC Nantes club. I will discover this championship, which I know almost nothing about," She said. 

"But this is not the first time I have come to France. I took part in the World Cup in 2019 (Nigeria was eliminated by Germany in the round of 16). I remember the crowd."

"I had never played in front of so many people before. I had faced big names. I am super excited at the idea of meeting this crowd again, the fans, of creating new memories." She concluded.

The forward racked up thirteen goal contributions in forty-three appearances in all competitions for SC Braga during her time in Portugal. 

She was also on the books of Swedish side Linkoping FC which she joined in 2020, before switching to Asia, joining South Korean side Gyeongju KHNP in 2022.
