Nigerian international Oluwatosin Demehin has brought an end to her two-year stint with French D1 Arkema side Stade de Reims, leaving behind a legacy of determination and passion.
The 22-year-old defender took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude to the club, its supporters, and her teammates.
Demehin's journey with Reims began in 2022, after captaining Nigeria's U20 team to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Costa Rica.
Her impressive performances caught the attention of European clubs, ultimately leading her to sign with Reims alongside teammate Rofiat Imuran.
Her growth and development were evident, as she went on to become an indispensable part of the Super Falcons squad.
At the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Demehin played a crucial role, starting in all of Nigeria's games.
Her performances earned her a nomination for the African Young Player of the year (women's category) at the 2023 CAF awards.
In her emotional farewell message, Demehin thanked the club's president, coaches, staff, medical team, and teammates for their support and belief. She also expressed appreciation to the fans, acknowledging the special bond she shared with them.
"After amazing years & seasons in Reims, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to share and be part of those moments with you." She wrote.
“I want to thank the President, coaches, club staffs, medical teams and especially my teammates who have become family for the belief and hard work that resulted in an unforgettable championship.
“To the fans, thank you for the support through difficult and simple times. Reims is a special place and now I understand what Remoises means. I wish everyone another successful and amazing season, Allér Rouge. Merci beaucoup pour tout @stadedereims.” She concluded.
During her time at Reims, Demehin established herself as a vital component of the team, featuring in 26 matches, including 11 last season, and scoring one goal.
