  • Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has made his official move to former Scottish Premiership champions, Rangers.
  • Returning to the club where he secured his first professional football triumphs at Ibrox, Balogun reunites with the Scottish giants after a short-lived spell at QPR in the Championship.

During his previous two-year tenure at Rangers, Balogun contributed significantly to the team's success, which included victories over Celtic for the Premiership title, the Scottish Cup, and a notable appearance in the Europa League final.

Last summer, however, the club released him at the end of his contract, allowing the 35-year-old to join QPR for the just-concluded season.

Despite making 16 appearances across various competitions, Balogun decided not to extend his stay at QPR, bidding them farewell earlier.

Fortunately for Balogun, he didn't have to wait long for a new opportunity.

Rangers recently confirmed his acquisition on a one-year contract, considering him a contingency plan following an ankle injury to their first-choice center-back, Leon King.

The familiarity between Balogun and Rangers boss Michael Beale, who worked together during their time at QPR, may have played a role in the transfer, although it does not come as a major surprise.

Balogun's arrival marks the seventh signing for Rangers, where he will join forces with his Super Eagles teammate, Cyriel Dessers. Dessers, formerly of Italian club Cremonese, recently inked a long-term contract with the Gers.

With the prospect of continental football and domestic commitments ahead, Rangers are poised for a demanding season, making Balogun's addition a valuable asset to the team.
