Ex-Super Eagles midfielder Onazi joins Kitchee SC

  • Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has made a significant move by signing with Hong Kong Premier League contenders, Kitchee SC.
  • The club officially announced the acquisition of Onazi, along with four other new signings, on Wednesday.

Expressing his admiration for the Nigerian player, head coach Alex Chu highlighted Onazi's energy, box-to-box potential, and experienced profile, stating that these qualities will greatly contribute to Kitchee's quest for success in the AFC Champions League.

Having played for esteemed clubs such as Lazio, Trabzonspor, Denizlispor, SønderjyskE, Al-Adalah, and most recently Bahrain's top-flight side East Riffa, the 30-year-old midfielder brings a wealth of experience to his new team.

Onazi has an impressive trophy cabinet, having won the Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2013 and the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor in 2020.

He was also a crucial member of the Super Eagles squad that claimed victory in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Furthermore, he represented Nigeria in the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.

Onazi's arrival at Kitchee SC adds depth and quality to their midfield as they strive for success in domestic and continental competitions.
