- Portuguese Feminine champions, SL Benfica have celebrated Christy Ucheibe after the Super Falcons midfielder became a club centurion.
- Ucheibe has made 100 appearances in all competitions for Benfica since she joined the club in 2020.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder hit the landmark when she featured for Benfica in their clash with Maritimo on Sunday.
Putting no foot wrong in the centre of the park, Ucheibe impressed as Benfica cruised to a 5-0 win to make it two consecutive league wins and continue their perfect start to the 2023/24 season.
Ucheibe has been one of Nigeria's most successful players in Europe over the past three years.
The tireless tackler has won eight club honours since joining Benfica in 2020. The Nigeria international has won the Campeonato Nacional Feminino (the Portuguese's league title) three times. Ucheibe has also lifted the Taça da Liga thrice and the Supertaça de Portugal on two occasions.
The youngster was part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. She featured in every game as Nigeria reached the knockout rounds without losing a game in regulation time.
Ucheibe earned recognition as Africa's best tackler at the tournament.
