Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has officially put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with Saudi Arabian Women's Premier League club Al-Ittihad, securing her future with the team until 2027.

Plumptre, who joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 from Leicester City, has been an instrumental player for the club, showcasing her goal-scoring prowess as a defender. 

Her leadership qualities have also earned her the captain's armband, highlighting her importance to the team.

The defender's time in Saudi Arabia has not been without challenges, however. After helping Nigeria qualify for the Olympics, she underwent surgery and missed the 2024 Games. 

Nevertheless, she returned to full fitness in October 2024 and resumed her leadership role at Al-Ittihad.

Plumptre's contract extension is a significant boost for Al-Ittihad, who are keen to retain their top players. 

The club's strategy of retaining valuable players committed to development and long-term success has been a key factor in Plumptre's decision to extend her stay.
