Through a statement on their official website, French Ligue 1 club Racing Club de Lens, has announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Hamzat Ojediran from Debrecen VSC. The 20-year-old, known for his tireless work rate and defensive prowess, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, tying him to the Artois outfit until 2028.
A product of the Emmanuel Amunike Academy, Ojediran burst onto the international scene at the 2019 U17 World Cup, where he played a crucial role in Nigeria's run to the round of 16. His performances caught the attention of European scouts, leading to stints in Albania and Hungary.
In Hungary, Ojediran established himself as a force to be reckoned with, earning the adoration of Debrecen fans and the respect of opponents. His impressive debut season saw him make 26 appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists. His consistency earned him the "player of the season" award.
Lens has secured a midfielder capable of dominating the engine room. Ojediran's strength lies in his ability to break up opposition attacks and launch counter-attacks with his precise passing range. His athleticism and anticipation make him a valuable asset in both defense and attack.
The Blood and Gold managed a seventh place league finish during the last campaign, and they believe the former Nigeria youth international will be an integral part of their strides for a better performance in the upcoming season.
