Payne sisters make history with Nigeria's Super Falcons

The Payne sisters made history as Nigeria advanced to the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals.

Nicole and Toni became the first set of siblings to start a game together for the Super Falcons of Nigeria during an international tournament.

The duo were both named as starters for coach Waldrum's side, in their 4-0 thumping of the Swallows of Burundi on Sunday night.

With her sister on the right side of defence, Nicole played her first match of the competition from left back.

The Paynes had previously made history as the first sister to represent Nigeria in the same game and have now done so in the continent's premier competition.

Both players will be looking forward to help Nigeria scale through the quarter final hurdle when they take on Cameroon.
