  • Canada are the reigning Olympic champions

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to play against the reigning Olympic champions, Canada, in a friendly match on July 17.

The team is currently training in Seville, Spain, as they gear up for their first Olympic appearance since 2008.

This time, they are determined to make a significant impact despite being in a challenging group with Brazil, Japan, and Spain, all ranked in the top ten by FIFA.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that the Super Falcons will face Canada on Wednesday, July 17.

This encounter follows their last meeting at the 2023 FIFA World Cup, which ended in a 1-1 draw. During that match, Canada dominated but missed a penalty, saved by Nigeria’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Canada are currently ranked 8th in the world by FIFA, making this match an excellent test for the Super Falcons as they prepare for the Olympics.

Nigeria's first Olympic match will be against Brazil on July 25.
