Kelechi Iheanacho earns Premier League POTM nomination

Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for his outstanding performances in February. The Super Eagles striker had a remarkable month, playing in every top-flight game for Leicester City, and contributing to five goals in four matches.

Iheanacho started the month in style, scoring a goal and providing two assists in Leicester City's comeback 4-2 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park on February 4th. He followed that up exactly a week later with another goal and an assist in their impressive 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium.

Despite the team's disappointing 3-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on February 15th and the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on February 25th, Iheanacho's overall performance has earned him a spot on the prestigious Player of the Month shortlist.

The former Manchester City ace is in contention for the award alongside other top players, including Berd Leno (Fulham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Emerson Royal (Tottenham Hotspur), Manor Soloman (Fulham), and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).

It's worth noting that Iheanacho is not the first Nigerian player to be nominated for this award, as former players Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Osaze Odemwingie, and Odion Ighalo have also won it in the past.
