Bundesliga Rookie of the Month: Victor Boniface bags hat-trick

  • Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface has clinched the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for October - his third consecutive triumph.
  • Boniface won the award in August and September after an excellent run of goalscoring form in his first few weeks in Germany.

The 22-year-old forward was again in decent form in October, netting a goal and contributing an assist in three appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface's attacking flair was also evident through an impressive 15 attempted shots on goal during the month, the most of any player in the Bundesliga.

This performance brought his season total to 54 attempts, overshadowing Bayern Munich's Harry Kane, who trails with 36 attempts in the German top flight.

Boniface beat gifted youngsters Xavi Simons and Brajan Gruda to claim the Rookie accolade for October.

The Super Eagles striker joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer in a five-year deal with a cost of up to €20m plus add-ons.

Since his arrival, Boniface has played an instrumental role in Bayer 04 Leverkusen's unprecedented start to the Bundesliga season.

Die Werkself are unbeaten this term and sit at the top of the league table, mounting an unexpected title challenge against the reigning champions, Bayern Munich.
