In the Premier League, several Nigerian players were in action. Wilfred Ndidi put in a solid midfield shift as Leicester City battled to a 1-1 draw at Brentford. Kelechi Iheanacho featured as a second-half substitute, but he could not score a late winner for the Foxes.

Alex Iwobi played 90 minutes as Everton held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. The Super Eagles winger put in a tireless display and helped his team secure a valuable point away from home.

Chuba Akpom continued his impressive form in the Championship, scoring his 24th league goal and assisting another as Middlesbrough cruised to a 4-0 home win over Preston North End.

FRANCE

In France, Josh Maja scored his 12th league goal of the season to help Girondins Bordeaux return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Nîmes.

In the Bundesliga, Kevin Akpoguma put in a disciplined display in Hoffenheim's 3-1 victory over Hertha Berlin.

In Serie A, Isaac Success assisted Udinese's second goal, and Kingsley Ehizibue wrapped up the tie with a close-range finish in their 3-1 win over AC Milan.

David Okereke and Cyriel Dessers both featured for Cremonese as they battled to a 1-1 draw at Monza to claim a point that lifted them off the foot of the Serie A table.

LITHUANIA

In Lithuania, Aaron-Pamilerin Olugbogi scored a late winner for Dainava as they recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Banga in the A Lyga.

RUSSIA

In Russia, Macleans Chinonyerem scored a brace to lift Lokomotiv Moskva to a well-deserved 3-0 victory over Ryazan in the Superliga Women.

SAUDI ARABIA

In Saudi Arabia, Odion Ighalo scored his side's first goal and assisted the second as Al Hilal continued their hunt for the treble with a commanding 3-0 win over Al Ittifaq.

SPAIN

In Spain, Gift Monday put in a good shift for UDG Tenerife in their hard-fought victory over Real Madrid, while Toni Payne impressed as Sevilla ran out 3-0 winners over Real Betis.

Kelechi Nwakali bossed the midfield for Ponferradina as they claimed a narrow 1-0 home win over Alaves in the Segunda Division.

TURKEY

Finally, in Turkey, Olakunle Olusegun and Moses Cobnan both featured as FC Krasnodar fell to a narrow league defeat.

USA

Chinonso Offor scored his first goal for CF Montreal, to inspire his side to a [3-2] comeback victory over Philadelphia Union. Ibrahim Sunusi was in action for 10 mins.

Elsewhwere, Obinna Nwobodo was in action as FC Cincinnati snatched a late draw away at Chicago Fire.
