CAF Awards 2024: Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie & others nominated for major honours

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled its nominees for the 2024 Women's Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and other categories, with Nigerian stars Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, and Flourish Sebastine making the cut.
Ajibade and Nnadozie will vie for the prestigious Women's Player of the Year award alongside notable contenders, including South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana and Jermaine Seoposenwe, Zambia's Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, alongside Malawi's Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga.
Nnadozie, meanwhile, has also been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, facing stiff competition from international teammate Monle Oyono, as well as Cameroon's Cathy Biya and South Africa's Andile Dlamini.
The Falconets duo of Chiamaka Okwuchukwu and Flourish Sebastine has been recognized for their impressive performances at the 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, earning nominations for the Young Player of the Year award.
Nigeria's coaching talents have also received acknowledgment, with Bankole Olowookere (Flamingos) and Christopher Danjuma (Falconets) nominated for the Coach of the Year award, alongside Edo Queens boss Moses Adukwu.
The Super Falcons, Falconets, and Flamingos have been shortlisted for the National Team of the Year award, while Edo Queens, who impressed in the Women's Champions League, are in contention for the Club of the Year award. Edo Queens' Emem Essien and Monle Oyono have also been nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year awar
The winners of each category will be determined through votes from a diverse panel, including the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and the Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of CAF Interclub competitions.
