  • Akor Adams expected to be ruled out for a significant period with thigh injury, just nine minutes into his Sevilla career.
  • Adams' injury setback comes as Sevilla prepare to face Barcelona in LaLiga clash on Sunday.

Akor Adams' new start to life at Sevilla has been dealt a significant blow, with the 25-year old striker expected to be out for a number of weeks due to a thigh injury, the club confirms.

Adams, who joined Sevilla from French Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier HSC during the January transfer window, suffered the injury during Thursday's training session at the Ciudad Deportiva.

The 25-year-old had played only nine minutes for his new club, and was looking to make his full debut against Barcelona this weekend. However, his injury setback has put his debut season at Sevilla on hold.

Adams' absence will be felt by the team, particularly as they prepare to face the Catalan giants in the highly anticipated LaLiga clash on Sunday.

Although the club has not officially confirmed the severity and duration of the injury, it is expected that he is going to face a spell on the sidelines for a significant amount of time, with typical recovery time for a myotendinous injury in the rectus femoris can be anywhere from four to 12 weeks.

In his absence, Isaac will continue as the starting striker, and Sevilla will be hoping that he can fill the void left by the injured Nigerian.

Adams' injury is a disappointing blow for the forward, who was eager to make a name for himself at Sevilla. However, he will be given the time and support he needs to recover and regain his fitness.
