- Nigeria secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Mozambique in a gripping international friendly at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira on Monday evening.
- The Super Eagles, missing key players Osimhen and Iheanacho, shuffled their lineup, handing Jordan Torunarigha and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru debuts.
- At the same time, goalkeeper Francis Uzoho maintained his spot despite his error against Saudi Arabia.
Uzoho again was partly at fault as Mozambique stunned Nigeria with an early strike by Geny Catamo in the 6th minute.
However, the Super Eagles swiftly equalised through Terem Moffi before Frank Onyeka put them ahead, assisted by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the 30th minute.
Moses Simon extended Nigeria's lead just before half-time, converting a penalty awarded by the referee for a handball.
However, Mozambique's Faisal Bangal capitalised on a momentary lapse in the second half to pull one back for the Mambas.
Despite multiple opportunities to widen the gap, including disallowed goals from Umar Sadiq and Victor Boniface, Nigeria could not extend their lead.
However, they maintained control till the end, clinching their fourth win in five head-to-head games over Mozambique.
The Super Eagles now gear up for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November.
