Nigeria's U17 women's national team, the Flamingos, are set to begin their preparations for their upcoming FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifying clash with South Africa's Bantwana, scheduled to take places between March 7-16.
The team will kickstart their camping on Sunday at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo.
The Flamingos, who won bronze at the 2022 World Cup, are aware of the challenge that lies ahead.
South Africa's Bantwana recently thrashed Gabon 21-2 on aggregate in their first-round qualifying match.
However, the Nigerian team is confident in their abilities and is determined to come out on top.
According to the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, it is essential for the Flamingos to start their preparations early.
He emphasized that matches between Nigeria and South Africa are always intense and emotionally charged.
Sanusi expressed confidence in the team's abilities, stating that they remain the best team in Africa and one of the best in the world.
The Flamingos' head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has called up a total of 30 players to begin the camping.
The team will be looking to secure a spot at this year's FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
