Mikel Agu has completed a move to Japanese club, Shonan Bellmare.
The Nigeria international signed a contract until 2024
29-year old Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu has joined Shonan Bellmare in the Japanese J1 league side on a two-year deal, as a free agent.
Agu spent the majority of his career playing in Portugal. The midfielder began his career with the Porto youth teams in 2010, but after nine years with the club—including loan stints at Club Brugge, Vitoria Setubal, and Bursaspor—he made the permanent switch to Vitoria Guimaraes.
Agu later departed the Portuguese club after three years and signed with Fuenlabrada in the Spanish second division (Laliga Smartbank) in 2022.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has seven caps for the Super Eagles.
