The duo previously worked together at Watford and Shanghai Shenhua in China, with Nigerian international Ighalo impressing in particular during his stint at Vicarage Road.

Ighalo joined Saudi Arabian giants Al-Shabab in 2021 after leaving United in January 2021 before transferring to Al-Hilal in January 2022.

After signing a contract that runs through the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, with the possibility of a 12-month extension, Ighalo has already scored eight goals for his new team.

Getafe, together with AS Monaco of France, might provide an attractive offer to return to Europe in the coming months.
