  • Al-Fayha Football Club have secured the signing of Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru from Adana Demirspor, marking a significant shift as the first Super Eagles player to transition from European football to the lucrative Saudi League this summer.

Onyekuru's deal with the Saudi club spans a two-year contract, including an option to prolong it for an additional year.

The winger, who spent the previous season on loan at Adana Demirspor from Greek outfit Olympiacos, demonstrated his prowess with a commendable performance, netting eight goals across 30 appearances in various competitions.

His contributions were instrumental in propelling the team to a commendable position in the Super Lig, thereby ensuring their qualification for the Europa Conference League.

Impressed by his on-field prowess, Adana Demirspor rewarded Onyekuru with a permanent four-year contract.

However, the situation took an unexpected turn as the club surprisingly omitted him from their squad for their continental challenge, subsequently placing him on their transfer list.

To rescue Onyekuru from this predicament, Al-Fayha has stepped in, including him in their squad roster for the upcoming league season. The move is a timely intervention to spare the winger from further embarrassment.

Al-Fayha's previous season performance placed them at the 11th spot on the 16-team Pro League table.

This transfer will also see Onyekuru reuniting with compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme at Al-Fayha, as Nwakaeme had earlier joined the club after departing from the Turkish top flight during the previous summer transfer window.
