Ashleigh Plumptre nominated for FA Women's Super League POTM

Recent Super Falcons debutant, Ashleigh Plumptre has been nominated for the Barclays FA Women's Super League February Player of the Month award.

Plumptre, a former England youth international, debuted for Nigeria last Friday, in a 2-0 win over Ivory Coast in a 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja.

Plumptre is up against Leicester Women's teammate Jemma Purfield, Chelsea duo Ann-Katrin Berger and Jess Carter, Tottenham Hotspur's Ashleigh Neville, and Alisha Lehmann for the monthly award (Aston Villa).

The 23 year-old was instrumental in the Foxes' victories over Birmingham City and West Ham United in February.

On February 13, she scored her first goal in the Women's Super League as Leicester City thrashed West Ham 3-0. She rose highest to nod the ball into the bottom corner after only eight minutes.

On Sunday evening, Plumptre practiced with the Super Falcons at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan ahead of their rematch against Ivory Coast.
