  • In preparation for their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against São Tomé and Principe, the Super Eagles will open their training camp on Wednesday, September 6.
  • This announcement comes straight from the team's media sources, setting the stage for what promises to be a crucial match.

Under the guidance of head coach Jose Peseiro, who has signed a six-month contract extension, the Super Eagles will face São Tomé and Principe on Sunday, September 10.

The venue for this showdown is none other than the illustrious Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

In the first leg of this fixture, the Super Eagles showcased their dominance by dismantling São Tomé and Principe with a staggering 10-0 victory. Napoli's sharpshooter, Victor Osimhen, left his mark by scoring four goals in that match.

Ahead of this matchday six clash against São Tomé and Principe, head coach Peseiro has released a 23-player squad list featuring the fresh faces of Victor Boniface, Gift Orban, and Jordan Torunarigha, who have earned their well-deserved invitations. Furthermore, the return of Tyronne Ebuehi and Jamilu Collins to the team adds to the anticipation.

Several regulars have also been summoned for duty, including Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost-Ekong, and Samuel Chukwueze.

As it stands, the Super Eagles, alongside Guinea-Bissau, have already stamped their tickets to the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire from Group A.

However, securing the top spot in Group A hinges on a victorious performance against São Tomé and Principe in Uyo.
