  • Nigeria's Super Eagles will clash with Saudi Arabia in a senior international friendly match in Portugal on Friday, 13th October 2023.

The clash comes as Nigeria draw the curtains on their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and prepare for the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.

The Super Eagles handed Sao Tome a 6-0 walloping on Sunday to finish top of Group A, send a warning to their AFCON opponents of what to expect at the tournament proper.

The three-time African champions will kick off their World Cup qualifiers with a home clash against Lesotho on November 13, with their matchday two meeting with Zimbabwe coming seven days later.

To prepare for those games, the Nigeria Football Federation has arranged the friendly match with Saudi Arabia exactly a month earlier in October.

Nigeria, ranked 39th on the FIFA rankings, will be favourites to clip the wings of 54-ranked Saudi Arabia.

It will be the first-ever meeting between the two nations, and the match will be played at the Estadio Municipal de Portimão in the Algarve, the home ground of Portugal Primeira Liga side Portimonense S.C.

Point of correction, Ayo T. This is Not 🚫 going to be the first time ever Super Eagles of Nigeria will be meeting Saudi Arabia pls. Nigeria played Saudi Arabia in a friendly in Europe in preparation for South Africa 2010 World Cup when Lars Lagerbäck was Nigeria’s coach. The game ended 0-0 with the likes of Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Anichebe, Dickson Etuhu in featuring.
