AFCON 2023 Qualifying - Group A

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been placed in Group A of the qualifying round for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

They were drawn alongside Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé & Principe.

The Super Eagles were amongst the 12 teams seeded for the draw in Pot 1. Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon and Algeria were the other teams in Pot 1.

The teams were drawn into 12 groups of four teams (Group A to L) with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the tournament to be played in the West African country.

The qualifiers will start in June 2022.

Nigeria will be looking forward to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations and it’d mark their 20th appearance at the mundial.

During the last AFCON, Nigeria had a fantastic run at the group stage but fell short of glory as they lost to Tunisia by a lone goal in the round of 16.
