Match Report: Sor nets first goal for Onuachu's Genk; Moffi, Oshoala continue fine scoring form in Europe

EaglesTracker presents the good, the bad, and the ugly performances of top Nigerian footballers in Europe on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

The Good

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala delivered a woman-of-the-match performance as she grabbed a brace in Barcelona's 3-0 thrashing of Sporting de Huelva.

One of Nigeria's most consistent footballers abroad, Oshoala has six goals in her last six games for Barcelona, with her recent contribution helping to send the champions ten points clear at the top of the league table.

In Belgium, Nigerian youngster Yira Sor scored his first goal for Genk to power his new club to a narrow 1-0 win at home to Zulte Waregem.

Nigerian goal-machine Paul Onuachu was a second-half substitute in the encounter.

It will be recalled that Sor joined Genk on a long-term deal from Slavia Prague in the first week of January.

In France, Super Eagles striker, Terem Moffi got the opening goal for Lorient in their 3-1 defeat to Marseille at the Stade Orange Vélodrome in a Ligue 1 gameweek 19 clash.

It is Moffi's second goal in as many matches for Lorient having found the net in Les Merlus's 2-2 draw at home to Monaco on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old now has 12 league goals this term, two fewer than the best mark in his three-season stay in France.

The Bad

In the Italian Serie A, Nigeria's Cyriel Kolawole Dessers netted his third goal of the season and his first in 2023 but it was not enough to help Cremonese avoid a home defeat to Monza.

Despite their massive investment in the summer, newly-promoted Cremonese are sat at the foot of the league table and they are favourites for an instant return to Serie B.

The Ugly

Wilfred Ndidi was in action for the entire duration and Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced after the break in Leicester City's embarrassing 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.

Taiwo Awoniyi was absent for Forest while Emmanuel Dennis was an unused substitute but the Reds showed enough quality to shoot down the Foxes and climb to 13th on the Premier League table.
