Kelechi Iheanacho returns to training following groin injury

  • Leicester City have received a major boost in their relegation fight with the return to training of Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Super Eagles striker has been out of action since picking up a groin injury in Leicester City's [1-1] draw with Leeds United on April 25.

Iheanacho has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 26 Premier League appearances.

His return to the squad will be a major boost for Leicester, who are currently 19th in the English Premier League, a couple of points away from safety.

Leicester City manager, Dean Smith has confirmed that Iheanacho is in contention to feature in the team's next game against Newcastle United on Saturday.

"Kelechi is back in training, and he's looking good," Smith said. "He's a big player for us, and we're delighted to have him back."

Iheanacho's return could be a major turning point for Leicester in their relegation fight as the Foxes have struggled for goals this season, scoring just 49 times in 36 league games. His goals and creativity could be the difference between staying up and going down.

Leicester face a tough run-in to the season, with games against Newcastle and West Ham to end the season.

However, with Iheanacho back in the side, they will be confident of picking up the points they need to stay in the Premier League.
