- The Nigeria international's exceptional campaign in Europe last term has been rewarded
Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has received his award from UEFA for being included in the Europa Conference League Team of the Season 2021-2022.
Cremonese made the reveal on their official Twitter account.
It is no surprise to see Dessers make the best eleven of the Europa Conference League, as the former Genk star enjoyed a splendid continental adventure last term.
Then on loan at Dutch side Feyenoord from parent club KRC Genk, Dessers scored ten goals to finish as the top scorer of the inaugural edition of the Uefa Europa Conference League.
Dessers' goals also powered Feyenoord to the final of the tournament, where they narrowly lost to a Jose Mourinho-inspired AS Roma.
Dessers has since quit Genk, having signed for Cremonese in the summer. The Nigeria international started slowly in Italy, waiting for two months after his purchase before scoring his first Serie A goal. The goal arrived as an equaliser in the 4-1 loss away to Napoli.
The 27-year-old did not have to wait long for his second goal, scoring immediately after in the 2-2 draw with Spezia on October 16.
Dessers will look to net in his third consecutive Serie A match when Cremonese take on Sampdoria on October 24.
