I grew up idolizing Super Eagles'legend Joseph Yobo - Ayo Obileye reveals

Livingston defender, Ayomide Obileye has revealed that while growing up, he idolized Nigeria's Joseph Yobo.

The London born was teammates with Nathan Ake at Chelsea's famous academy, Cobham but didn't get a scholarship to progress at Chelsea as a youngster.

In an interview with EaglesTracker, Ayo was asked to reveal the players he looked up to while growing up.

"When I was young I used to play up front I used to love Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho. I used to even like Zinedine Zidane. Zidane was one of mine favourite players.

"But as a defender, I looked up to Joseph Yobo, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand. These are the players I looked up to and I try to model my trade with."

The Anglo-Nigerian was futher asked how he made the transition from being a forward to a defensive minded footballer.

"I love scoring goals, I scored a lot of goals when I was very much younger and I thought that would be me but as I grew up I got bigger and taller. I wasn't as quick as I was, so when training with Lester Thomas he said 'YOU WOULD BECOME A PERFECT CENTER BACK, YOU REMIND ME OF RIO FERDINAND. They were players who started as a center forward and went on to become defenders"

The 27-year-old scored 4 goals in 34 Scottish Premiership appearances last season.
