- Serie A powerhouse AC Milan has officially secured the signature of Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal.
- The 19-time Scudetto champions have inked a five-year contract with the talented winger for a fee of €20 million, with the potential for an additional €8 million in add-ons.
Chukwueze, 24, now joins the esteemed ranks of Nigerian players who have donned the AC Milan jersey, following the footsteps of Aliyu Datti, Taribo West, Kingsley Umunegbu, Nnamdi Oduamadi, and Taiye Taiwo.
The Nigerian's exceptional performances during the previous season with Villarreal caught the attention of numerous clubs overseas. In 50 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, he netted 13 goals and provided eleven assists. It was the first time in his career that he would register double figures in both goals and assists in a season.
Despite strong interest from the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Real Madrid, AC Milan emerged as the frontrunners to secure Chukwueze's services.
The Rossoneri diligently pursued the deal for the Nigerian international in recent weeks, ultimately overcoming competition from Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr to make the acquisition.
With this transfer, Chukwueze will now join other Nigerian stars plying their trade in the Serie A, such as Napoli's duo of Victor Osimhen and Michael Folorunsho, Udinese's Isaac Success, Empoli's Tyrone Ebuehi and Atalanta's Ademola Lookman.
