Osimhen named Serie A's best striker; Iwobi, Iheanacho secure club awards

  • In a thrilling conclusion to the 2022/23 Serie A season, Napoli's Victor Osimhen has been named the Best Striker in Serie A.

The Super Eagles striker scored 25 league goals to help power Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years. The 24-year-old is on course to win the top goalscorer award and become the first African to finish top of the goals chart in the Italian league.

However, Osimhen was beaten to Serie A's Player of the Season award by Napoli teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho have emerged as the proud recipients of the Players' Player of the Season awards at Everton and Leicester City, respectively.

These coveted honours were bestowed upon the Super Eagles stars in recognition of their exceptional contributions to their respective clubs throughout the campaign.

At Everton, versatile midfielder, Alex Iwobi showcased his remarkable skills while playing in various positions, capturing the hearts of both his teammates and fans alike.

The dynamic playmaker netted two goals and delivered an impressive eight assists, the highest among his fellow Everton players.

Iwobi's exceptional performances played a significant role in his team narrowly avoiding relegation, culminating in a hard-fought 1-0 triumph against Bournemouth on the final day of the season.

Meanwhile, at Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho's consistent brilliance earned him the title of Leicester City's best player for the 2022/23 season.

Iheanacho's impact was truly felt through his crucial goals in victories over Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

His outstanding contributions provided a glimmer of hope for the Foxes, despite their unfortunate relegation from the Premier League following a tumultuous campaign.
