Nigeria's most valuable players: Who makes the top 20?

Nigeria's most valuable players: Who makes the top 20?

Nigeria is home to some of the most talented footballers, not only in Africa but also in the world.

Read on to discover the twenty most valuable Nigerian footballers on the surface of the earth, following the latest market value update.

In top spot is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The 23-year-old continues to build on his promise at the 2015 FIFA u-17 World Cup, where he scored an unprecedented ten goals to power Nigeria to the title.

At €65 million, Osimhen is not only Nigeria's number-one player but also Africa's most valuable striker.

Right behind Osimhen is Leicester City midfield dynamo Wilfred Ndidi (€50 million).

Ndidi drops from a career-high €60m, but he is still worth way more than the ten million euros tag he had just before joining Leicester five and a half years ago.

Following his excellent recent displays at Everton, Alex Iwobi has seen his market value increase to €22m to become Nigeria's third most valuable star.

The 26-year-old is also ranked fifth among Everton players and 152 among players in the Premier League.

In joint fourth at €20m is the trio of Nottingham Forest's Taiwo Awoniyi, Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho, and Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze.

While Iheanacho and Chukwueze have been ranked higher, this is Awoniyi's career-high mark. The former Union Berlin striker, with two goals in the Premier League, is the fourth-highest-ranked player at the City Ground.

Ranked together at €18 million are Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq and defender Calvin Bassey.

It has been a meteoric rise from a rating of less than €5 million at the beginning of the year to four times that amount for Bassey.

A deserved growth it is for the former Rangers fullback following a remarkable period when he played in the final of the Europa League and became Nigeria's most expensive defender in history with his move to Ajax.

Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo comes next at €15 million, a career-high for the former Glasgow Rangers man.

It is not a surprising rise for the 26-year-old, who scored in the final of the Europa League before sealing a dream move to the Premier League in the summer.

And to round up the top ten is KRC Genk ace Paul Onuachu (€14m).

Top 11 - 20

Top of the next ten is Emmanuel Dennis (€14m) following his switch from Watford to Nottingham Forest.

In twelfth position is Terem Moffi, who has been rewarded with his excellent start to the new season with an all-time high market value of €12 million.

The 23-year-old has smashed six goals in eight Ligue 1 games for Lorient. He is in the Super Eagles squad, preparing to battle Algeria in an international friendly on September 27.

Next on the rung is the trio of Nantes' Moses Simon, Porto's Zaidu Sanusi, and Atalanta's Ademola Lookman.

Brentford's midfield powerhouse Frank Onyeka arrives next at €9 million.

Feyenoord's Bright Osayi-Samuel and Club Brugge's Raphael Onyedika are joint 17th at €8 million. They are the only two players on this list without a Super Eagles cap.

But Onyedika can change that narrative in the coming days as he has earned his first national team invitation and is presently in camp with his international teammates.

Hertha Berlin's dazzling dribbler Chidera Ejuke (€7.50m) and Slavia Prague winger Peter Olayinka (€6.50m) complete the list of Nigeria's top 20 most valuable footballers.
