  • Club Brugge has decided not to sell Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika this summer, valuing his sporting contributions over potential financial gain from a transfer.
  • The Belgian champions have set a minimum price tag of €20 million for Onyedika, a significant increase from their initial valuation of €10 million, and are willing to keep him for another season despite already signing a direct replacement.

Belgian First Division A giants, Club Brugge has decided to halt the transfer of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika to the Premier League. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Belgian champions have taken Onyedika off the market, citing his immense sporting value to the team.

The 23-year-old Nigerian stalwart was touted for a move to the Premier League after an impressive stint with Club Brugge. However, the club's disappointing start to the season has made them realize that Onyedika's contributions on the pitch are more valuable than any potential financial gain from his sale.

Onyedika's impressive performances in the Champions League and play-offs last season have made him an indispensable asset to the team. The technical staff and board have acknowledged that the team's best periods coincide with Onyedika's top form, making him a crucial player to retain.

While Club Brugge had initially valued Onyedika at €10 million, they are now unwilling to let him go for anything less than €20 million. This significant price hike is a testament to Onyedika's growing importance to the team.

The decision to keep Onyedika comes despite the club already signing a direct replacement for him. This move is expected to increase competition in midfield, but Club Brugge is willing to take that risk to ensure Onyedika stays for at least another season.
