William Troost-Ekong completes move to PAOK Thessaloniki FC from Watford

• PAOK Thessaloniki FC have officially announced the acquisition of William Troost-Ekong from Championship club Watford on a three-year contract that will keep him at PAOK until 2026.

This move marks the end of Troost-Ekong's three-year association with Watford.

The Super Eagles vice-captain joined the English side from Udinese in September 2020 and played a vital role in their promotion to the Premier League in his debut season.

However, his appearances were limited as Watford struggled in the top flight, ultimately suffering relegation back to the Championship.

During the first half of the season, Troost-Ekong featured 15 times for Watford in the second tier before being loaned out to Serie A side Salernitana in January.

While at Salernitana, the 29-year-old defender made nine league appearances, scoring a goal against his former club Udinese, helping his team avoid relegation.

Despite initial reports linking Troost-Ekong to clubs such as Panathinaikos, Genoa, and Verona, it is PAOK who have successfully secured the services of the former KAA Gent star.

PAOK finished fourth in the Greek Super League last season and is set to compete in the Europa Conference League in the upcoming campaign.
