  • Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has released a list of 23 players for the Africa Cup of Nations Group A qualifying doubleheader against Guinea-Bissau next week.

Group leaders, Nigeria host Guinea-Bissau in Abuja on March 22nd before tackling the same opponent in the return leg six days later.

For the two matches, Coach Peseiro has relied on several old guards, one home-based player, and a couple of Flying Eagles stars who impressed at the just concluded Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Peseiro's list comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, four midfielders, and eight attackers.

Flying Eagles star, Kingsley Aniagboso joins Super Eagles number one gloves Francis Uzoho and Rivers United's Victor Sochima - the only home-based player on the list - in the goalkeeping department.

In defence, there is a first-time call-up for U-20 defender Daniel Bameyi. While in midfield, Brentford's Frank Onyeka returns after recovering from a lengthy spell out due to injury.

It is in attack that Peseiro has sprung the biggest surprise, though, as he snubs some of Nigeria'a most in-form forwards like USG's Victor Boniface and Middlesbrough's top man Chuba Akpom.

Rather, the Portuguese manager has called on Southampton's Paul Onuachu and Sivasspor's Ahmed Musa, who are both struggling with game time at their respective clubs.

However, in Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze, and OGC Nice's Terem Moffi, the Super Eagles have enough firepower to outgun the Djurtus.
