- Paul Mukairu is now a Danish Cup champion after FC Copenhagen defeated AaB 1-0 in the final on Thursday night.
The match was played at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, with FC Copenhagen taking the lead in the second half through Diogo Gonçalves. The Lions held on for the win to claim their ninth Danish Cup title.
Mukairu, who joined Copenhagen from Antalyaspor in January 2022, did not come off the bench in the final, but he was part of the winning team. The 23-year-old Nigerian winger has made ten appearances for Copenhagen this season.
Copenhagen's win in the Danish Cup means they will qualify for the playoff round of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.
The Lions are still on course to successfully defend their league title and secure their 15th triumph, as they sit at the top of the table, deep into the Championship round.
The Danish Cup is the second trophy Mukairu will win since he moved to Denmark to join FC Copenhagen.
Mukairu, a youth product of FC Hearts Academy, made 15 appearances for the Lions as they claimed the 2022 Danish Superliga title last season.
