EaglesTracker Awards 2022: Awoniyi, Oshoala and Osimhen earn multiple nominations

 On Thursday, the nominees for the 2021-2022 Eagles Tracker Awards was revealed on our social media platforms. 

The EaglesTracker Awards is an exclusive annual event that honours Nigerian footballers' outstanding achievements throughout the season under review.

The 2021-2022 edition will feature 14 categories in total, compared to the 13 awards handed out in 2020-2021. 

The Young Player of the Year award is making its debut this year and it's a star studded one that has the likes of Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Calvin Bassey and Victor Osimhen. 

FC Union Berlin Forward, Tawio Awoniyi leads the way with four nominations apiece across various categories.

Anthony Nwakaeme's eye-catching performances in Turkey for recently-crowned Trabzonspor have earned him a nomination for the 'Forward of the Year' award, while young guns like Christy Ucheibe, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Uchenna Kanu will compete with four-time African Women's Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala for the 'MVP of the Year - Female' award.

The award ceremony is a three days event and will be kicking off on the 15th of June, 2022 and will end on the 17th of June, 2022.

1. Goalkeeper of the Season - Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam), Adebayo Adeleye (Hapoel Jerusalem) and Chiamaka Nnadozie (Paris FC)

2. Defender of the Season - Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto), Olisa Ndah (Orlando Pirates), Calvin Bassey (Glasgow Rangers), Victor Moses (Spartak Moscow) and Semilogo Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion)

4. Forward of the Season - Asisat Oshoala (FC Barcelona Femeni), Victor Osimhen (SSC Napoli), Taiwo Awoniyi (FC Union Berlin), Anthony Nwakaeme (Trabzonspor FC) and Sadiq Umar (UD Almeria).

5. Fans Player of the Season - Asisat Oshoala (FC Barcelona Femeni), Victor Osimhen (SSC Napoli), Taiwo Awoniyi (FC Union Berlin), Anthony Nwakaeme (Trabzonspor FC), Sadiq Umar (UD Almeria), Calvin Bassey (Glasgow Rangers), Moses Simon (FC Nantes), Cyriel Dessers (Feyenoord Rotterdam), Christy Ucheibe and Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk).

9. Rookie of the Season - Awarded to the footballer (male or female) aged U21 who had the best first full season in the first team of their club, in 2021/2022.

10. Most Improved Player of the Season - Emmanuel Dennis (Watford FC), Saviour Godwin (Casa Pia), Cyriel Dessers (Feyenoord Rotterdam), Taiwo Awoniyi (FC Union Berlin) and Alex Iwobi (Everton FC).

11. Young Player of the Season - Chiamaka Nnadozie (Paris FC), Rasheedat Ajibade (Atletico Madrid Femeni), Calvin Bassey (Glasgow Rangers) and Victor Osimhen (SSC Napoli).

12. Golden Boot - Awarded to the player (male or female) who scored the most goals for their club in the 2020/2021 season.

13. Golden Glove - Awarded to the goalkeeper (male or female) who kept the most clean sheets for their club in the 2021/2022 season.

14. Team of the Season - A team of the best 11 performers throughout the 2021/2022 season.
