Jose Peseiro announced Super Eagles squad to face Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe games

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has named a roster of 27 players to compete in the upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe.

Only two of the eight NPFL players that were sent to the United States made the cut, with the rest of the players being passed over for the games.

Adebayo Adeleye, a newly-invited Israeli goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, and Adewale Adeyinka of Akwa United were among the three goalkeepers on the squad.

William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi, Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, Abdullahi Shehu, and Sani Faisal of Katsina United made the list for the defense.

Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Innocent Bonke, Frank Onyeka, and Oghenekaro Etebo all made the team.

Since his recovery from injury, Onyeka has not featured since the March qualifiers against Ghana, while Etebo has only played a few minutes.

During the team's tour to the United States, Innocent Bonke had an injury.

Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Emmanuel Dennis, Cyriel Dessers, Terem Moffi, and Sadiq Umar are the forwards invited.

On June 9th, the Super Eagles will face Sierra Leone before traveling to So Tomé and Principé on June 13th.
