  • Super Falcons defender Chidinma Okeke, has signed with Mexico's Club América Femenil, becoming the first African player to join the team.
  • The 24-year-old's move strengthens Club América Femenil's defense ahead of their 2024-2025 Concacaf W Champions Cup campaign, following the departure of former Barcelona star Andrea Pereira Cejudo to Pachuca.

Through official handles, Liga MX Femenil side have confirmed the signing of Super Falcons fullback Chidinma Okeke. The 24-year-old defender, who played every game for the Super Falcons at the 2024 Olympic Games in France, has signed an undisclosed deal with the Mexican club.

This move marks a significant milestone for Okeke, who becomes the first African player to join Club América Femenil. The club, eager to bolster their defense, has secured Okeke's services following the departure of former Barcelona star Andrea Pereira Cejudo to Pachuca.

Okeke's impressive career trajectory includes stints with FC Robo, Madrid CFF, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and MyNavi Sendai. Her experience playing for Nigeria at the 2016 Fifa U17 Women's World Cup and U20 Women's World Cup in 2018 has prepared her for this new challenge.

The announcement of Okeke's signing comes shortly after Mexico's ambassador to Nigeria, Alfredo Miranda O., revealed on social media that the player would be joining Club América Femenil. The club has confirmed the signing, but details of the contract length and financial terms remain undisclosed.

As Okeke prepares to make her debut for Club América Femenil, the team is gearing up for their upcoming match against Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2024-2025 Concacaf W Champions Cup on August 22. With Okeke's addition, the team aims to strengthen their defense and make a strong showing in the tournament.
