- In preparation for the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, all 23 Super Eagles players who received invitations to the national team camp have successfully arrived in Uyo.
The contingent, which notably includes the newly summoned trio of Jordan Torunarigha, Gift Orban, and Victor Boniface, touched down at the Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State today.
Stepping onto Nigerian soil, the Super Eagles stars, led by interim captain William Troost-Ekong and Napoli's striker Victor Osimhen, were warmly received by the State FA Normalization Committee.
From there, they were swiftly transported to their accommodations at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.
Setting their sights on the task ahead, the Super Eagles are set to kick off their preparations with their first training session scheduled for today, Wednesday. This crucial session will take place at the training grounds of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Adding a touch of expertise to the proceedings, head coach Jose Peseiro, accompanied by his diligent assistants, had already arrived in Uyo on Tuesday. Peseiro wasted no time in inspecting the playing surface, dressing rooms, and other vital facilities upon his arrival in the city.
The backdrop to this upcoming encounter is the Super Eagles' secure qualification for the 2023 AFCON finals, which will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.
However, it is important to note that the three-time African champions have their sights set on finishing atop Group A. To accomplish this, they require just one point from their clash against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday.
