- Hertha Berlin fans have something to cheer about as their Nigerian import, Chidera Ejuke, returned to team training on Monday after a lengthy injury layoff.
The Super Eagles star suffered a knee injury during a friendly match against The Villages FC in January, which has kept him out of action for the past 13 Bundesliga matches.
Before his injury, the left-winger was an important player for the struggling Bundesliga club, having featured in 15 matchday squads, starting nine games and coming off the bench in six. Ejuke also recorded three assists in that period.
However, the injury ruled him out of contention for a place in the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers games against Guinea-Bissau last month.
Ejuke, who joined the German club on loan from CSKA Moscow last summer, was pictured back in training with his teammates as they continue their battle to survive relegation.
Hertha Berlin are currently rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table with 22 points.
Hertha Berlin fans will hope that the return of their Nigerian forward will boost their chances of avoiding relegation. With only a few matches left in the season, every point counts for the team, and Ejuke's return to fitness could be a major boost.
