  • Former Nigeria youth international, Ifeanyi Mathew has been unveiled as the newest signing of Swiss Super League giants, FC Zurich.

Mathew joins on a free transfer, inking a two-year deal that will keep him with the reigning Swiss champions until the summer of 2025.

A combative defensive midfielder, Ifeanyi Mathew will look to add steel and grit to FC Zurich's midfield as the club coached by Bo Henriksen aims to avoid relegation just over a year after lifting their 13th league title.

FC Zurich are currently second from bottom on the ten-team league table, level on points with basement club, FC Winterthur.

Mathew will look to bring to Zee City his dynamism and experience gained playing for Kano Pillars and El Kanemi Warriors in Nigeria as well as Lillestrøm and Osmanlispor in Europe.

The 26-year-old was a member of the Flying Eagles during his late teens and was, at a time, an influential player for Nigeria's Super Eagles Team B.

What do you think of the move ?
