Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria's international friendly match with Portugal in Lisbon on Thursday, November 17.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has confirmed that Osimhen will not be available for the high-profile friendly game due to injury. Head coach Jose Peseiro has called up Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers.

Osimhen has missed all of Nigeria's friendly matches under Jose Peseiro, including defeats to Ecuador, Mexico, and Algeria.

The last time Osimhen featured for Nigeria was in the Super Eagles' Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe back in July. The 23-year-old scored four goals in that encounter as Nigeria cruised to a record-making 10-0 win.

In Osimhen's injury-enforced absence, Peseiro will count on the qualities of Lorient forward Terem Moffi and KRC Genk ace Paul Onuachu.

Onuachu is the top goalscorer in Belgium, with the 28-year-old netting his 13th league goal in Genk's 2-0 win at Anderlecht.

In France, only the PSG duo of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior has scored more goals than Moffi.

The former Kortrijk man scored his 10th goal of the season in Lorient's 1-1 draw at Strasbourg on Sunday.

Orlando Pirates defender, Olisa Ndah has also withdrawn from the squad due to injury, and will be replaced by Chidozie Awaziem.
