- The Hammers have endured a blunt attack in the first half of the season and are banking on the Nigeria international to help turn things around
West Ham have reportedly tabled an offer of £25 million (N13.7 billion) for Lorient's free-scoring striker Terem Moffi. The offer includes £5 million in add-ons.
The Hammers spent heavily in the summer to bring in recruitments including Italian forward, Gianluca Scamacca, but the 24-year-old has found the going tough in the English Premier League.
His partnership with Michael Antonio has not yet been able to meet expectations. In 19 league matches, David Moyes' men have only managed 15 goals, making the Irons the second-worst offensive team in the division.
West Ham are keen on strengthening their forward line ahead of the second half of the season, and the Londoners have identified Moffi as the ideal man to inject quality and penetrating power.
Moffi is enjoying a spectacular season in France where he has notched 12 Ligue 1 goals in only 18 games so far for FC Lorient. Only PSG forward, Kylian Mbappe (13 goals) has found the back of the net more times than Moffi.
Moffi is tied on 12 goals with Napoli's Victor Osimhen as the most prolific Nigerian striker in Europe's top five leagues during the 2022/2023 season.
West Ham are not the only English club interested in Moffi, with Southampton also listed among his numerous suitors.
