- In a highly anticipated announcement, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed the official roster for the Flying Eagles' squad, set to compete in the upcoming 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
Head coach Ladan Bosso has meticulously assembled a 21-man team consisting of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and six strikers in preparation for the World Youth Championship.
The Flying Eagles' World Cup campaign will benefit from the inclusion of four foreign-based professionals who have earned call-ups.
Among the standout additions are Abel Ogwuche, a central defender plying his trade at Trelleborg, the Botev Plovdiv duo of Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi, and Victor Eletu, a promising midfielder representing AC Milan's youth team.
Further bolstering the team's ranks are goalkeeper Chijoke Aniagboso and defender Daniel Bameyi, both of whom were recently invited to the Super Eagles squad for the back-to-back 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea Bissau. Their experience and international exposure will undoubtedly prove invaluable to the Flying Eagles' ambitions in Argentina.
Additionally, the Flying Eagles have been uplifted by the return of midfielder Daniel Daga. Having recuperated from an injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations, Daga has shown remarkable resilience and regained full fitness ahead of the World Cup, providing a much-needed boost to the team's midfield dynamics.
Nigeria's U20 national team is scheduled to kick off their group stage campaign against the Dominican Republic on May 21.
Subsequent challenges await against formidable opponents Italy and Brazil on May 24 and May 27, respectively.
