WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons continue La Decima run with win over Cameroon

Toyosi Afolayan

The super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations following their 1-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

Rasheedat Ajibade's 57th minute header was enough to secure victory over their francophone neighbours on Thursday evening.

The Super Falcons controlled the game from the blast of the whistle and deservingly got the winner in the second half.

In the same vein, Nigeria have qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in August 2023. With this result, the Super Falcons remain the only team to have qualified for the semi-finals of the WAFCON at every attempt.

Nigeria will face the hosts, Morocco on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 4pm ET, 9pm WAT for a place in this year's final.
