Nigeria's U20 women's national team, the Falconets, have intensified their preparations for the forthcoming FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Colombia. With a strong determination to surpass their previous silver medal achievement, Coach Christopher Musa Danjuma is confident in his team's abilities.

The Falconets are grouped alongside Germany, Venezuela, and the Korea Republic in Group D, and Danjuma emphasized the importance of a solid start against their first two opponents. Acknowledging the challenges posed by Germany and Korea Republic, Danjuma also warned against underestimating Venezuela, highlighting their qualification for the tournament.

"We must be very ready from the first blast of the referee’s whistle in Colombia, as there will not be many minutes to make mistakes and adjust against the Korea Republic and Germany," Danjuma told NFF Media.

"Those two games will be key to our progress to the knockout rounds. We also cannot afford to under-rate Venezuela – they went through the qualifying rounds. The import is that we must bring our ‘A’ game to the party in all three matches," he said.

The team has been engaging in friendly matches to fine-tune their skills, including victories against local sides and a loss to a boys' team. Danjuma expressed satisfaction with the team's progress, citing improved understanding, ambition, and individual growth.

The Falconets are set to embark on a final two-week training camp in Colombia before their tournament opener against the Korea Republic on September 1st. With their sights set on glory, the team is poised to make a strong impact at the tournament.
