- Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis has officially rejoined Watford F.C. on loan.
- The return to Watford comes after the termination of Dennis's loan stint at Istanbul Basaksehir.
The 27-year-old striker departed Nottingham Forest last summer on loan, a decision influenced by his reduced playing opportunities due to the arrivals of Chris Wood, Divock Origi, Anthony Elanga, and Callum Hudson-Odoi. The need for regular game time prompted Dennis to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Opting for a season-long loan with Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir, Dennis encountered a challenging tenure.
Despite high expectations, he started only four games and made four appearances off the bench, failing to contribute to either goals scored or created. Basaksehir are currently in tenth place in the Turkish Super Lig, trailing nine points behind the top four positions.
Watford, seizing the opportunity, revealed through their social media channels that Dennis would be returning to the club.
During his initial stint in the 2021/2022 season, the striker netted ten goals in thirty-seven appearances for the club.
In a noteworthy demonstration of commitment, Emmanuel Dennis agreed to a 70% pay cut to facilitate his return to Watford. The club stands 9th in the EFL Championship table, a mere three points below the playoff spots. Dennis's return is viewed as a strategic move to bolster Watford's campaign for promotion.
With eyes set on the upcoming clash against third-placed Southampton on Sunday, the former Koln forward is anticipated to take an active role in Watford's lineup, providing an added dimension to their offensive strategy.
