- With a statement on their official website, Spanish La Liga side Sevilla have announced the signing of exciting Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke.
- Ejuke joins Sevilla on a free transfer following a topsy-turvy spell with Belgian top-division club Royal Antwerp.
The Nigeria international had been on the books of Russian giants CSKA Moscow for the past four years but has not kicked a ball for them since the Russo-Ukrainian war started a few years ago.
Ejuke spent the 2022/23 season on loan at German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin but he could not help them avoid relegation at the end of the campaign.
The former Heerenveen star moved to Antwerp last July and scored five goals and added six assists in all competitions as the Reds made the Championship Round but eventually surrendered the title they won last year to Club Brugge.
However, with his contract with CSKA Moscow also expiring this summer, Ejuke has decided his business in Russia is done and has switched to Spain instead.
The 26-year-old joins Sevilla as a free agent and completes his deal on Monday after passing his medicals on Sunday.
Ejuke has sealed a three-year contract and becomes the first Super Eagles player to join Sevilla.
Sevilla have not won the Spanish La Liga since their only triumph in 1946 with Los Nervionenses only finishing in 14th position on the 20-team log table during the just concluded season.
Ejuke will look to add unpredictability to a Sevilla attack that already boasts the talents of Belgian duo of Adnan Januzaj and Dodi Lukébakio as well as Morocco's Youssef En-Nesyri and veteran captain Jesús Navas.
