- Nigeria's Super Falcons have maintained their 36th position in the latest FIFA World Rankings.
- The rankings were released on June 14, 2024, by the world football governing body.
In Africa, the nine-time Women's Africa Cup of Nations champions remain the top-ranked team.
In their Olympic Group C, opponents Spain and Japan held their positions at first and seventh in the world rankings. Brazil, also in Group C, moved up to ninth place.
Zambia, Africa's other representative at the Olympics, are now ranked 64th.
The Super Falcons' best recent ranking was in August 2023, when they climbed from 40th to 32nd. This rise followed their strong performance at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Despite a tough group that included hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada, and newcomers, the Republic of Ireland, Nigeria reached the round of 16. They were eventually eliminated by England in a penalty shootout after a goalless 120 minutes.
The next FIFA Women's World Ranking will be published on August 16, 2024.
The Super Falcons will return to the Olympic football event this summer for the first time since Beijing 2008, having missed the London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020 editions.
