Osimhen battles Ucheibe, four others for Fans' Player of the Season award

• Six outstanding Nigerian stars have been nominated for the prestigious Fans' Player of the Season in the EaglesTracker Awards.

Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Atalanta BC winger Ademola Lookman, and Bayer Leverkusen target-man Victor Boniface are the top nominees for the season-ending award.

They are joined by SL Benfica midfielder Christy Ucheibe, Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Atletico de Madrid Femenino ace Rasheedat Ajibade.

Lookman will be the favourite for the honour after his record-breaking campaign with Atalanta. The Super Eagles winger scored 17 goals and added ten assists to help Atalanta qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa League for the first time in history.

The former RB Leipzig star will, however, be chased down for the award by Bayer's Boniface.

The former Union SG star contributed an incredible 31 goals (21 goals and 10 assists) in 34 appearances across all competitions. Boniface, named the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Year, played a key role as Bayer Leverkusen lifted a first-ever league and cup double.

Osimhen will also be a top contender for the fans' award after his brilliance was rewarded with the CAF Player of the Year award, becoming the first Nigerian in 24 years to be so recognised.

Super Falcons star, Ucheibe will not be a pushover either as she was instrumental for SL Benfica as the club ended the campaign with four titles.

Goalkeeper Nnadozie is also expected to be popular during the voting exercise after she was named the winner of the Best Goalkeeper award in the French women's league.

Nnadozie stopped the most penalties in Europe this term and was an influential member of the Paris FC side that secured qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League for the second consecutive season.

The winner could also be Ajibade who was one of Nigeria's most impactful players during the 2023/24 season. Ajibade scored ten goals and added eight assists to help Atletico de Madrid Femenino qualify for the Champions League.
She won the club's Best Player award for her excellence.

Fans' votes will be collected across all our social media accounts and the winner of the ETAwards Fans' Player of the Season will be announced on July 2.
