- Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade has been elevated into the prestigious FIFPRO Global Player Council, a platform that puts men’s and women’s players at the heart of decision-making in international football.
The Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels, FIFPRO, is the worldwide representative organisation for professional footballers.
Announcing the development on their website, FIFPRO confirmed that Rasheedat Ajibade will be a part of the 34-member council that already boasts renowned superstars like Lucy Bronze, Giorgio Chiellini, Saki Kumagai, and Nicolas Tagliafico.
Reacting to her new membership of an association that seeks to represent footballers in negotiations about global issues that directly affect them, Rasheedat said, "It’s important that the voices of players are heard. I'm looking forward to using my platform to help players in Africa and beyond."
Rasheedat's inclusion in the world's number-one body for footballers continues the 23-year-old's upward trajectory since breaking into the public consciousness at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
The former Robo FC star has since played for the senior national team and was a member of the Super Falcons side that lifted the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in 2018.
At the recent edition of the Nations Cup, Ajibade finished as the joint top scorer to power the Falcons to reach the semifinals and qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Ajibade is currently on the books of Atletico Madrid, a team she helped win the Supercopa de Espana in 2021.
